It was an enthralling contest at Ellis Park, where a hat trick for Queenstown's outstanding youngster Amy Hislop wasn't enough to stop Roslyn winning 4-3 in a classic that had a dramatic injury-time winner. Amelia Currier opened the scoring for Roslyn after 25 minutes. Hislop equalised with an excellent strike just before half time, after Queenstown goalkeeper Lydia Waddington had also saved a penalty. CHATHAM CUP ROUND 1
Wanaka 3 (Stephen Pleskun 2, Weston Bell)
Geraldine 2 (German Araujo Copette 2)
HT: 0-2
Round one of the Chatham Cup saw the premier league teams all advance past their lower league opposition, although in Wanaka an upset was on the cards when Geraldine's German Araujo Copette scored early on after beating the offside trap despite Wanaka's appeals. The home team started to dominate and had numerous efforts on goal but couldn't hit the target. With half time approaching Geraldine went 2-0 ahead when Copette scored with a carbon copy of his earlier goal.
Wanaka pulled one back on 57 minutes when Barry Grehan floated in a freekick and Steve Pleskun rose high to head home past Brian Martin. Typical of cup matches the plucky underdog was hanging on despite Wanaka dominating. The equaliser came with only 5 minutes left when Grehan drove forward and his cross rebounded off Martin onto Weston Bell who tapped home from close range to level the scores at two apiece.
Both teams searched for the winner, with Wanaka goalkeeper Britton Dowling making a smart late save to deny Geraldine. Deep in injury time, Pleskun turned and drove forward, his pace taking him past a defender and as Martin closed him down Pleskun managed to squeeze the ball into the corner to give Wanaka a classic cup win 3-2.

Queenstown doubled their lead when some neat interplay between Quinn McDonald and Lewis Walters resulted in Carlos Herrmann scoring in the 51st minute.

Northern's Harry Fraser tied the game up soon after with a near-post finish following a corner to take the match to extra time.
In the opening period of extra time, McDonald drove into the box and drew a foul which saw Queenstown's Hermann score with 100 minutes played. The passion of extra time saw a flurry of yellow cards but Queenstown held on for a 3-2 win.

An error in the 6th minute allowed Ben Wade to open the scoring. Connor Neil showed tidy footwork to double the score with 13 minutes gone. Northern Hearts then had their best spell of the game with striker Sullivan Martin causing trouble and creating two opportunities that narrowly missed hitting the target.
The tie was effectively put to bed just before the halftime break when Caversham scored three goals in three minutes. Wade and Neil doubled their individual totals and Ben Kiore turned from being a provider to finishing one of his own. Two more goals in the second half to Campbell Thompson completed the convincing 7-0 win.
