ISPS Handa Premiership | Southern United v Eastern Suburbs

FULLTIME at the Caledonian, and a very late goal to Andre de Jong has seen Eastern Suburbs AFC escape Dunedin with a 1-0 win.

It's a cruel result for the home team, who dominated long periods of the match and created enough chances to score on any other day - summed up when the last kick of the game struck the visitors crossbar.

With the game played in intense heat (for Dunedin at least!), it was a physical encounter which saw a number of players pick up injuries. Southern had to replace key players Garbhan Coughlan and Stephen Last early in the first half, and Ben Wade picked up a knock later and also had to be subbed.

Thanks to the excellent crowd that came out and cheered us on in the sun - we hope to see you at our next home match on Sunday 19th November.

Southern United's next two ISPS Handa Premiership matches are away from home, visiting Nelson to play Tasman United next Sunday, and Auckland to play Waitakere United the following Sunday.
