Goalkeeper Coaching Pathway

Football South are passionate about developing high quality Goalkeeper coaches all around the region. The New Zealand Football Goalkeeper Coaching Pathway is designed for coaches who work specifically with Goalkeepers, or who wish to develop their understanding of how to coach Goalkeepers effectively.

Introduction to Goalkeeper Coaching (3 Hours)

The ITGK is designed for coaches who are new to coaching Goalkeepers. The objectives of the course are to ensure high quality experiences for Goalkeepers by increasing the knowledge of how to coach Goalkeepers. The course is split into three parts; Theoretical Understanding of the Qualities of a Goalkeeper, Practical Understanding of the Fundamentals of Goalkeeping and a Football Online piece.

The ITGK is suitable for coaches want to develop their fundamental understanding of Goalkeeper training, even if they do not coach Goalkeepers specifically.

Goalkeeper Level 1 Coaching Award (8 Hours)

The Goalkeeper Level 1 award aims to equip coaches with the appropriate level of knowledge and skills that will enable them to create a high quality training experience for Goalkeepers and increase the knowledge base of Football Coaches working with Goalkeepers. The course is split into three parts; GK Warm Ups, GK Technique Sessions and GK Coordination Sessions.

The Goalkeeper Level 1 award is a requirement for Goalkeeper coaches who are working within Club-based Talent Development Programmes.
