NYL | Southern United v Hawkes Bay United

FULLTIME in the National Youth League match at Tahuna Park, and it's a great come from behind win for our lads, beating Hawke's Bay United FC Youth 2-1!

After trailing at the break, we battled back into the match and created a number of good chances. We finally got on the scoresheet after a good run and shot from striker Ben Kiore was blocked, but then fell to Ryan Fleming who blasted home the equaliser.

The late winning goal was a fantastic solo effort from Aidan Barbour-Ryan. Aidan, who's already appeared for our senior team in the ISPS Handa Premiership, dribbled from halfway and beat a couple of players before calmly placing a shot past the opposition keeper.

At the other end of the field, keeper Ben Dubyk made a number of good saves for Southern. The defensive unit was solid with fullback Rory Findlay and youngster Andrew Cromb standing out.

Overall, it was an entertaining end-to-end game of football in sunny conditions, and served as an excellent taster for the seniors' ISPS Handa Premiership clash against Hawkes Bay United at Sunnyvale, 11am kickoff!ISPS Handa Premiership Southern Utd vs Hawke's Bay United
