Vacant Position | Football Development Officer – South Canterbury

Football South is seeking applicants for an experienced full time Football Development Officer in the South Canterbury region to commence as soon as possible.

Based in Timaru the South Canterbury Football Development Officer will play a vital role in developing players, coaches, clubs and the game during the continued rollout of a national plan which aims to build further on the quality of the football experience throughout New Zealand.

Responsibilities include initiatives in areas ranging from guiding a young player’s first kicks, through to the development of skills in community junior programmes, to talent identification and elite development of the best youth players in the region.


This is a 2-year contract, with the intentions to extend subject to funding. The successful candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a sport development position or within the game of Football
  • UEFA B coaching qualification or higher
  • Experience in working in partnership with volunteers
  • Experience in developing and delivering strategies
