Kitman Cup

Uni holidays always impact local clubs with players leaving town for a couple of weeks – so this year, in conjunction with sponsor Kitman, we commenced the inaugural Kitman Cup yesterday. Clubs could enter combined sides made up of players registered to Divisions 2, 3, & 4.

Eight teams in total played in two pools of 4 teams yesterday; one pool at Bayfield, and the other at the Oval. Each team played 3 x 40-minute matches straight after each other – rolling subs meant it was a great chance for everyone to get a good run.

The feedback yesterday seemed really positive, with the Cup a novel compromise to ensure players could get game time throughout the Uni holidays without mass defaults from teams that had players away.

Next Saturday will see the semifinals & finals of the Cup. Thanks to everyone who took part yesterday, including the referees; and special thanks to Kitman for their sponsorship; they’re a big supporter of Football South & Southern United FC.
