Football South is delighted to announce that Tessa Nicol has been recruited as the new Women’s Development Officer for the Football South region.
Tessa is a proud local who has gone on to represent the New Zealand U20 Junior Football Ferns and is currently in the Football Ferns squad. As well as her impressive goalkeeping pedigree, Tessa has also done a lot of coaching for us in the past, including Holiday Programmes, FTC and all-girls programmes. Tessa’s infectious energy for the girls and women’s game is always evident and we’re confident she’ll do a great job of continuing to drive the female game forward in the region.
By representing her country at the highest level, Tessa has proven the elite footballing pathway is achievable for girls in the Football South region through passion, determination, and hard work.
Tessa’s main priorities for her WDO role are to get as many girls as possible having fun experiences in sustainable football and futsal programmes, and working with clubs and schools across the region to improve capability and opportunities for girls and women. This includes players, coaches, referees, and administrators.
Tessa begins her role from April 3rd 2017. Her first job will be to get around the regions and see what’s going on, and to talk with players, clubs and coaches, so please make Tessa feel welcome.
