A good turn out of southerners at Surrey Park for Introductory Referee Course kicks off the 2010 season in Southland, and local referees attend coaching clinic and fitness testing.

The Waihopai AFC clubrooms at Surrey Park was the venue for a course in the Laws of the Game on Saturday with 9 attendees providing a lively discussion on everything from throw-ins to offsides and fouls.

The course was presented by Referee Development Officer, Chris Boyd, assisted by NZFC referee, Dave Langley. The hard work of local referee Philip Bulling generated much interest locally and it was pleasing to see three women taking the course, and two new referee recruits for the 2010 season.

In the afternoon referees attended a coahing clinic and several successfully completed fitness testing for the Footballsouth Premier League.
