How do I become a Referee?
Mark Currie (16) is the youngest active referee in Footballsouth in 2009.

Start young! . . . or Start old and stay young!

There are great opportunities awaiting referees at the local, national and international level.

Yes, I'm keen - what do I do now?

Sign up for an Introductory or Level 1 course.

The Introductory Course is aimed at "dipping your toes in the water" and is a basic introduction to the Laws of the Game. This is great for parents, junior coaches, club based referees - or those who just want to understand a bit more about the game.

The Level One course is for those who want to know a bit more about the Laws of the Game or who are keen to become referees. The course is a more practical one and includes training on referee positioning, control of games, and information on fitness training.

We don't want you to fail!

There are written tests as the end of each course, using multiple choice questions. But, we want you to succeed, and we are there to give you all the help possible. We need you.

OK, I am still interested, where do I find information on courses?

Have a look at the section on the web site on Referee Courses, or contact the Referee Development Officer and arrange a course tailored to fit in around your commitments.
