Central Otago Roadshow a success

The Football South team have just returned from a busy 4-day Central Otago Roadshow, and were delighted by the enthusiasm and talent on display right across the region.

The roadshow was an opportunity to engage with players and coaches throughout Central Otago and saw them visit Alexandra, Wanaka, & Cromwell.

Saturday morning saw Danny Ledwith and Danny Furlong undertake player ID sessions at Alexandra United Football Club. Youngsters from U10 right through U17 grades were on display.

On Sunday afternoon, the two Danny’s joined Stephen Last and Conor O’Keeffe in Wanaka to watch some senior matches.

Sunday was also spent in Wanaka at Pembroke Park and Kelly’s Flat, watching various youth matches.

On Monday, FTC sessions were held in Wanaka for 11th grade through to 16th grade players. Later on, a junior coaching seminar was conducted with a great turn-out of 24 local coaches.

Tuesday saw a couple of Football in Schools sessions; Stephen and Conor visited Cromwell Primary School, while Danny L & Danny F were at Alexandra’s Terrace School.

After a big four days, the Irish boys made it back to Dunedin just in time to watch the Lions get beaten by the mighty Highlanders!
